Memorable Event: Spanish Flu

I wanted to speak about the Spanish Flu today, because it is similar to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The Spanish Flu was the pandemic that struck around 1918. This virus affected approximately 500 million people worldwide. This is crazy to me that is 1/3 of the worlds population. In total this virus killed 20 to 50 million people worldwide. It was estimated that 675,000 Americans died from this.

In fact most Doctors commonly refer to the Spanish flu outbreak as “the greatest medical holocaust in history”.

Now obviously this was a negative thing, I have never heard about this or even studied it in depth. But the fact this virus is pretty similar to the Coronavirus, how does this make you people feel? What happens if the COVID takes a path for the worst (god forbid).

Now that I am reading up on the Spanish flu, otherwise known to doctors as the “greatest medical holocaust in history” I get butterflies in my stomach. Just the quote right there will put fear into any mans heart. The good takeaway is that the Spanish flu took place over 100 years ago meaning that since then doctors and scientist have planned and took measures so no pandemic will get that bad ever again.
